Blockchain Project Receives Funding from the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economic Affairs

ProNES automation GmbH is pleased to receive funding for its ambitious blockchain project.

“The Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economics is supporting ProNES automation GmbH with funding of around 332,000 euros to implement its project vor secure data transmission. This was announced by Economics Minister Dr Volker Wissing. With the help of blockchain technology, the company wants to develop intelligent test benches,” is how the press release of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economics begins.

“New technologies are the key to a dynamic economy and a society that strives for progress. The project of ProNES automation GmbH for the use of  Artificial Ingelligence and Blockchain technology helps to optimise processes and thus achieve a sustainable use of resources. Such innovations are future-oriented and enormously important for the economy and society,” said Dr Volker Wissing, on the occasion of the signing of the grant in the amount of 332,000 euros.

[…]

“With the integration of blockchain technology into our system solutions, we are creating the basis for connecting the test stations to cloud-based databases and services. Since we access very sensitive and central data on the manufactured products in quality testing, data security and the protected transfer of this data in the public infrastructure requires special attention,” states Jochen Weber, CEO of ProNES automation GmbH.

Internationale Career Firmly Focused – Flying High Included

“I’m fit, I’m fast, I’m optimistic” is a quote from pole vaulter Oleg Zernikel, but it could just as easily have been made by both of the sports talents that ProNES automation GmbH from Landau promotes. Both of them have in common that they have meanwhile made a name for themselves far beyond the region and are at the beginning of their international careers.

Oleg Zernikel from ASV-Landau made the headlines with a fourth place at this year’s European Athletics Championships in Poland. He is currently aiming for the Olympic standard of 5.80m. When Philipp Ahouansou jumps high, he convinces with his assertiveness and his goal-scoring ability. The talented backcourt player set a big exclamation mark with eleven goals in the victory of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen from Mannheim against RK Trimo Trebnje in the EHF European League. At a get-together with their sponsor Jochen Weber (Managing Director of ProNES automation GmbH) and a few members of the Turnverein 1861 in ASV-Landau and the friends’ association “Hoch-hinaus” (Fly High) the athlete and the handball player got to know each other on 9 April in the new sports hall in Spitalmühlweg.

There are many good reasons for ProNES to support the two sportsmen: One of them, of course, it the fact that at ProNES not only the managing director Jochen Weber is a sworn fan of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen. At the same time, Weber’s heart has also been beating for athletics for decades.

Thus, the support of the two sportsmen fits seamlessly into the long-standing commitment of ProNES in the areas of vocational (advanced) education and support of newcomers in sports: Promotion of young technical talent through internships, training and dual studies as well as sports promotion – e.g. pole vault meeting, support of the athletics department of the ASV-Landau, including the construction of the new hall and the pole vault meeting, jerseys for the Bellheim football youth.

Moreover, both sportsmen – like ProNES – are writing their regional, national and international success stories from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. The motto of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen #1Team1Ziel (1Team1Target) could also stand unchanged over the cooperation initiatives of ProNES in Landau and beyond.

ProNES automation GmbH has made a name for itself in the field of automation and digitalisation over the last two decades. “Without team players and cooperation partners, this success would not have been possible,” concludes Jochen Weber. “And we would like to share this success with others through our social commitment. But for now, we are keeping our fingers crossed for Oleg on his way to Tokyo.”

E-mobility: ProNES automation GmbH opens charging stations for ESEL mobility offer from EnergieSüdwest

Four electric cars can now charge up at the same time at Marie-Curie-Str. 5a in Landau. Two of the four charging columns in the charging park on the parking areas of the Sparkasse Südpfalz are available to all visitors and employees of the surrounding businesses, residents and visitors of ProNES automation GmbH and the Sparkasse.

The initiative for the charging columns was taken by ProNES automation GmbH, which has established a reputation for innovative automation and system solutions in the field of e-mobility. ESEL.CAB GmbH, a subsidiary of EnergieSüdwest AG, contributes the know-how for the implementation and billing. And last but not least, Sparkasse Südpfalz is providing the parking spaces for the charging park.

The charging park with 4 charging points consists of 2 double charging columns with a connected load of 22 kilowatts per charging point. Parking for electric vehicles is free of charge during the charging process.

At the inauguration, the three cooperation partners agreed on the important concern of contributing to the expansion of the regional charging infrastructure for electric cars and thus to push forward the technological development in the region.

„As Sparkasse Südpfalz, we are pleased to be working with ProNES to further advance the mobility of the future in our region and to make an important contribution to protecting the environment. It is a must for us to act in the spirit of sustainability and to make the space available for this purpose“, said Bernd Jung, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Südpfalz, at the inauguration of the charging points, which took place together with Dr Robert Grajcarek, Managing Director of ESEL.CAB, and Jochen Weber, ProNES Managing Director.

„We are very satisfied to have found another strong partner for our project to create a comprehensive charging infrastructure in Landau and the region. The switch to electric mobility will only succeed with industry partners like ProNES who are willing to invest in publicly accessible charging infrastructure,“ emphasised Dr Grajcarek.

„As an innovative pioneer in electromobility, it is very important to us not only to invest in future-oriented technologies, but also to make them accessible to the public,“ explained ProNES Managing Director Jochen Weber at the inauguration.

As part of the charging station infrastructure master plan, the German federal government is funding the measure with 40 per cent. The charging stations are in turn part of the regional ESEL.CAB charging network, which now comprises over 100 charging points. The cooperation partners invest in the charging infrastructure and ESEL.CAB GmbH takes care of the administration and billing.

Entwicklungsvorhaben ProCHAIN gestartet

Deferral of Meeting Point Automation 2020 – Image Processing System Solutions for the Smart Factory

We had invited our customers and business partners to join us at this year’s Treffpunkt Automation on March 19 to discuss image processing system solutions and their benefits for the Smart Factory. We also looked forward to networking in the evening in the unique atmosphere of the SAP Arena.

Unfortunately, the corona virus and the unavoidable measures by our potential participants and ProNES have upset our plans. In view of the forecasts for the further course of events, we do not want to invite anyone to a larger event. The cancellation is a pity, but from our point of view it is absolutely necessary in the current situation.

If you have specific questions, we would be pleased to answer them in a personal conversation.

We wish you all to get through the coming weeks in good health.

For years ProNES Automation GmbH has been a reliable partner for the development of test and measurement solutions in production.

ProNES and our cooperation partner, HAHN Automation GmbH, will introduce the participants to strategies and solutions for the optimal integration of the technology into their process world and discuss them with the participants.

In addition, we would like to invite the participants in a round table discussion to share their experiences, their plans and wishes as well as their concerns regarding the further digitalization of manufacturing.

For the subsequent networking session, we invite the participants to spend the evening with us – enjoying top-class sport and in an incomparable atmosphere – under the motto #1Team1Target – together to success.

ProNES would be pleased to welcome you among our guests and to share an exciting, dynamic and future-oriented day with you.

Please register today, the number of participants is limited. Simply send us the completed registration form.

Review of 2019

Hard to believe, but the year 2019 is already drawing to a close. The last year was very eventful for ProNES and flew past all of us. Two of the development focuses were Battery and EOL Testing. At the same time, we have further optimized the standardization of our PIQ.manufacture complete solutions. And thanks to this successful year, we were also able to continue and expand our social commitment undiminished.

PIQ.batterytest

At the end of 2019, ProNES delivered another four battery test stations to a leading global battery manufacturer. In 2020 the first PIQ.batterytest test stations will find their way into the wide world: the USA will be the first installation location outside Germany. The test stations are the result of several years of development work. They allow battery manufacturers to ensure that the batteries they produce meet the highest quality parameters. In 2020, we will further optimize the complete solution in close cooperation with the manufacturers to meet the increasing demands of e-mobility.

You can find further information at:

Batteries for e-Mobility

PIQ.3D-gate

The interest in our PIQ.3D-gate was unbroken in 2019, and development has continued. Currently the first projects are becoming reality. At present, metrology (dimensional measurement of components) and Assembly Check have emerged as focal points. The 3D solution provides an all-round check of the quality assurance parameters.

Quality Assurance Based on CAD Data

ProNES Website in English

ProNES complete solutions based on PIQ.manufacture found their way into the world again in 2019. The cooperation with internationally active companies was further expanded in 2019 and will continue to progress in 2020. Therefore, it was a matter of course for us to provide our international customers and business partners with information about our solutions and company developments in English.

Standardization

In 2019 we have further optimized the standardization of our PIQ.manufacture complete solutions. This is offering our customers and us two decisive advantages:

  • HMI, where you can see from the layout that you are working with proven ProNES solutions
  • Shorter development times until complete solutions are ready for the market

New Employees

  • Finn Lehmann
    Construction / System Development
  • Michael Scherer
    Head of Hardware Planning
  • Luke Adam
    System Development
  • Jonathan Hoppe
Vocational training as an IT specialist

Sports Sponsoring

As every year, we supported various sporting events and clubs in Landau and the surrounding area in 2019.

New this year was the sponsoring of a young player of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen: Philipp Ahouansou. ProNES will support this talent, who is at the beginning of his sports professional career, by sponsoring him. The aim is to ensure that Philipp continues to cause a sensation at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen on the one hand, but also to lay the foundations for his subsequent professional success at an early stage of his sports career.

Like ProNES, the Lions are writing their national and international success story form the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. And the fan department around our director Jochen Weber is happy to be able to support the Lions not only in the SAP arena.

Support of Child and Youth Work

The promotion of child and youth work has been at the heart of ProNES for years. In 2019, we have again supported various projects and institutions that accompany children in their everyday life and on their way into the future.

Conclusion

The information above is only a small excerpt of the activities that took place during the year. We would like to thank all our business partners and customers for their trusting cooperation, which has enabled us to look back on a successful year 2019. And 2020 is already throwing its highlights ahead. We look forward to interesting, innovative projects together with you.

NI Days Europe 2019 – ProNES Quality Assurance for E-Mobility

“Full Force Ahead” – this motto not only applies to the NI Days 2019, but also describes the dynamics with witch automation solutions are pursued in times of IoT and I4.0. E-Mobility is currently experiencing the same dynamics in the vehicle sector. The ProNES all-in-one solutions unite both worlds: digitized quality assurance integrated into manufacturing processes enables the automated production of high-quality, innovative e-mobility products.

At the NI Days 2019 (ICM Munich, 20. + 21.11.2019) ProNES will focus on battery testing. PIQ.battery testbench is the latest addition to the ProNES digitalisation solutions for e-mobility. “Battery Power for Sustainable E-Mobility” is the title of the presentation given by ProNES employees Maximilian Schultz and Domenic Foerderer on November 21 at 2:15 pm. Using Akasystem from Akasol GmbH as an example, they explain how battery test solutions and the associated LabVIEW programming must look like to ensure high-quality, precise, and digitised production of sustainable, high-performance battery solutions.

At the ProNES booth (room 13, booth no. 48) the conference participants can learn more about battery testing. ProNES will also be happy to inform visitors about the entire PIQ.manufacture solution portfolio. ProNES goes Rhein-Neckar Löwen

The season opener of the LIQUI MOLY German Handball League sees the Rhein-Neckar metropolitan region immediately enjoying a local derby between the Eulen Ludwigshafen and the Rhein-Neckar Löwen (Lions). Philipp Ahouansou, who made the leap out of the junior players department and recently signed his first professional contract in Mannheim, is one of the extended professional team of the Lions.

ProNES will support this talent, who is at the beginning of his professional career, within the scope of sponsoring. The aim is to ensure that Philipp continues to cause a furore for the Lions, while at the same time laying the foundation for his subsequent professional success at an early stage in his sports career.

The promotion of young talent in the sporting field fits perfectly into ProNES’ other commitment in the fields of (advanced) education and sport: promotion of young technical talent through internships, training and dual studies as well as sports promotion (e.g. pole vault meeting, athletics at ASV Landau, jerseys for the Bellheim soccer youth team).

Why a handball player of the Lions? There are many good reasons for the “cooperation”: These include, of course, the fact that at ProNES not only the managing director Jochen Weber is a sworn fan of the Lions, but that this has now spread to other employees.

In addition, the Lions – like ProNES – are writing their national and international success story from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. And the Lions’ motto could also be one to one above ProNES’ commitment to automation and digitalisation: #1Team1Objective – and this objective means harmonious interaction between highly motivated team members in order to always be able to deliver optimal performance.

We are looking forward to many exciting games of the Lions, in which Philipp Ahouansou will hopefully prove which fruits a targeted promotion of talent can bear. And we will be happy to cheer on the Lions together with you. Further offers and possibilities will be announced here shortly.

Every Single Year…

No fear Christmas is not yet around the corner, but the annual pole vault meeting took place in Landau on August 14. And you could believe in a déjà-vu, because the Greek Konstandinos Fipippidis repeated his victory of last year at the main competition in the evening with a height of 5.67 m and won the men’s competition for the third time.

Unfortunately, the Landau local heroes were unable to intervene decisively in the action. Lamin Krubally was not lucky at 5.35 m, so the bar fell. Oleg Zernikel had to pay tribute to his difficult season and finished sixth with 5.17 m. At the height of 5.57 m, five jumpers were still in the race: Filippidis, Holzdeppe (German Champion), Walsh (USA), Vallés (Spain) and Meyers (GB). Raphael Holzdeppe had to abandon due to a slight injury and finally only Filippidis mastered the 5.57 m.

In view of the beautiful weather, the enthusiastic audience would have liked to extend the evening to help the winner set a new meeting record. However, the winner had already been decided at 8 pm. But one thing remains to be said: next year as well the meeting will certainly ensure a good atmosphere on the well-filled Obertorplatz. Like the jumpers, the spectators will again give their best to experience new heights in 2020.

And certainly we from ProNES will not only actively sponsor the meeting and the jumpers, but also cheer them on.

22nd Landau Pole Vault Meeting

Stabhochsprungmeeting 2019

ProNES Sponsors Top Performance

After last year’s move to the Neuer Messplatz, the pole vault meeting returns to the centre of Landau. The Turnverein 1861 e.V. in the ASV Landau has once again attracted top-class pole vaulters – either on a regional or international level – to the meeting in Landau. On Wednesday, 14 August at 14:00 hrs the preliminary programme will begin on Obertorplatz with the regional elite. In the evening from 18:00 hrs the international participants will again do everything in their power to raise the bar for victory.

Last year’s novelty will be enjoyed by the audience again this year: On a big screen the spectators can savour the jumps again afterwards.

ProNES will again be sponsoring especially one pole vaulter this year. After all, the event is not just about new meeting records, but also about personal support for individuals to enable them to achieve their personal best.

At the premiere of the PIQ.3D-gate at last year’s Control in Stuttgart, the team of FARO and ProNES employees presented the first two variants of the PIQ.3D-gate. Compared to last year, the interest at this year’s Control increased even further. For us, this is the best proof that this innovative all-in-one solution meets the requirements of numerous companies in the manufacturing industry.

In the 2019 version, the focus was not only on transparency and precision of the recorded data, but also on flexible use: the test specimen is guided through an on-demand scalable gate equipped with sensors, using any transport system. For example, it can be used in automated incoming goods inspection, to name just one of the many possible uses in other company departments.

Despite the already wide variety of possible applications, the development team of ProNES and FARO never tires of designing further variants. The developers are currently working on a solution in which the sensors are mounted on a robot. This makes it even more flexible to react to the shape and size of the specimens.

Under the following links you find a short video about the first variant of the PIQ.3D-gate as well as further information about the basic principle:

IAQ – Integration Initiative of University of Kaiserslautern

The shortage of skilled workers and integration or immigration are topics that are currently being discussed in all media. How would it be to make the most of the solution potential offered by an effective combination of the two topics? IAQ (Ingenieurwissenschaftliche Abschlussorientierte Qualifizierung – Engineering Graduate Qualification) is one of the promising projects to attract qualified employees to the German labour market through integration and immigration.
The education and training network pro-mst at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences prepares migrants with university or vocational qualifications in mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology (MINT) for their career entry in Germany as part of the “Integration through Qualification” programme. One of the two programmes – the intensive IAQ qualification – is aimed specifically at university graduates. Individual coaching based on their educational background helps them to further qualify on their own.
The one-year qualification measure is divided into a university and a practical phase. In addition to improving their language skills, participants can familiarise themselves not only with the working culture in Germany, but also with the general way of life.
Ultimately, the IAQ project focuses on the indispensable professional qualification: migrants should find adequate jobs where they can contribute their expertise, and companies should be able to counter the shortage of skilled workers with qualified employees.
In addition to technical requirements, knowledge of the German and social competence of the applicants are decisive criteria.
The IAQ project fits in perfectly with the commitment that ProNES has shown to training for years.  Thus, at the beginning of the year we were pleased to welcome (مرحبا) our Moroccan intern Mohamed Erroudani. For Mohamed Erroudani the in-house structure is the main difference in everyday work in Morocco and Germany. The team spirit, as it is lived at ProNES and in which the directors see themselves as leading team members, is rather rare in Morocco. Company managers are more like clients than collegial contacts in their daily work.
The bottom line: the first two months were very positive for all sides. We would be delighted if the qualification measures were crowned with success on all sides. However, one thing is for sure:  qualified, committed and team-oriented newcomers are welcome in every team.

Premiere of the Test Heroes at the SPS IPC Drives 2018 – 27th to 29th Nov in Nuremberg

November 27 will be the day: The “test heroes” – ProNES Automation GmbH and Wolf & Wölfel – will celebrate their premiere with the first joint booth at the SPS IPC Drives, which takes place from 27 to 29 November in Nuremberg.

The test heroes have been working together since autumn 2017 to develop innovative automation projects, especially in the field of electrification and digitalisation. At SPS IPC Drives in Hall 3, Booth 128, the test heroes together with Encontec GmbH will present the first results of their target-oriented developments: PIQ.drive, an all-in-one solution for the qualification of a wide variety of electric motors.

The digitalisation solution of the test heroes combines many years of practical experience in the areas of manufacturing, automation and digitalisation, sound know-how in the testing of electric motors and well-established software solutions based on LabVIEW. In recent months, the HMI interface and the test mechanics for the qualification of electric motors have been further optimised. With regard to test mechanics the test heroes now rely on proven test mechanics from Encontec.

The solution combines numerous standard tests for quality assurance, from starting torque to wow and flutter, as well as current ripple, and temperature testing, to name but a fraction of the testing possibilities.

A central platform component of the digitalisation solution is the PIQ.dataserver, which is supplemented by the ProNES IoT gateway. Both components can be seamlessly integrated into any manufacturing landscape, allowing IT and OT in any company to grow into a single unit – another milestone on the road to the Smart Factory of tomorrow.

PIQ.drive: highly flexible, proven quality assurance

“In times of electrification, the variety of electromotors is increasing. At the same time, lot size 1 is one of the goals of future-oriented manufacturing within the framework of I4.0 and IoT. Therefore, the environment-specific, flexible parameterisation of test stations is an absolute must in order to meet the current quality assurance requirements. The cooperation of development partners is just as indispensable so that the know-how of many experts can lead to optimised solutions for our customers,” says Jochen Weber, Managing Director of ProNES Automation GmbH.

11th meeting of LabVIEW User Group Stuttgart – report

The 11th meeting of the LabVIEW User Group brought together 10 members of the LabVIEW User Group at Lufft in Fellbach. After four hours all participants agreed that they had experienced an interesting afternoon with practical insights and helpful tips for their daily work.

After a short presentation of the company history and the product portfolio of Lufft by Mrs. Wingert from the marketing department, the participants were given an insight into the organisation of production at Lufft. In addition to the convincing devices for weather measurement, the work organisation at the workplaces in production was particularly impressive. The respective employees design the workplaces on their own according to the respective requirements. Moreover, the production employees are actively involved in quality assurance and the implementation of safety measures via Kanban boards.

In this manufacturing environment, LabVIEW is used for test stations. Mr. Schneider used an application example to explain how the software created with LabVIEW is integrated into the environment.

A test program created with LabVIEW then served as a basis to discuss the effective arrangement of VIs and other program elements in a code review. During the discussion, the participants gave each other numerous tips to make their daily work with LabVIEW easier. These included the reference to an interesting presentation the winking title “How to blow your LabVIEW project in surprisingly few steps”. At the GDevCon 2018 many listeners followed this informative presentation by Jörg Hampel.

Conclusion of the afternoon: Virtual encounters via the online forum may be an addition, but none of the participants would like to do without the regular exchange in the “real” world. The next meeting is scheduled for the end of January 2019.

The Sky is the Limit …

Pole Vault Meeting – Premiere at the Neuer Messplatz

About 2,000 spectators experienced the main competition at the premiere of the pole vault meeting on the Neuer Messplatz. The capricious weather (strong headwind and an approaching thunderstorm) could not stop the good mood of the spectators and the good performances of the vaulters.

Despite the wind and weather, the mood drove the participants to quite remarkable performances. 5.71 m was the convincing victory height of a well-known pole vaulter in Landau: Konstandinos Filippidis from Greece, who won again after 2015. His performance was all the more remarkable as he had broken his foot only in March.

However, the other pole vaulters were also acclaimed by the audience. The participants included Daniel Clemens, whose participation was sponsored by ProNES. The picture shows Daniel Clemens from LAZ Zweibrücken and Jochen Weber, Managing Director of ProNES. Clemens occupied a midfield position of 5.41 m.

You can already look forward to the next pole vault meeting. In better weather the meeting record will certainly be raised further.

Via the video link you can watch the victory vault (once again):

High Spirits at ProNES…

Event Arena and Pole Vault Meeting

The company run is just over, as ProNES continues its sporting activities. There should be no lack of team spirit, even if we are rather passively intervening in the actual events.  In this case, we leave the top performances to the German World Cup Team and the international participants at the pole vault meeting.

Hopefully, there will be high spirits in the event arena for the 2018 World Cup (14 June to 15 July), in which ProNES is represented with a fan box. Here we will celebrate the summer fairy tale 2018 with our business partners, colleagues, and friends. The Event Arena is again located directly next to the ProNES company headquarters. Thus, we will experience the entire World Cup and the storms of enthusiasm of the spectators up close. The arena covers 11,000 square meters and offers space for 6,500 enthusiastic football fans. The huge stage of 16.5 x 12.0 meter stage, with its integrated 52 m² HD-LED screen, promises a word-class view from every seat.

In the truest sense of the word, the organisers of the pole vault meeting, which will be hosted  by the Turnverein 1861 in the ASV on July 4, will also be raising the bar higher and higher. The annual pole vault meeting has meanwhile made a name for itself far beyond the borders of Landau. This year the top-class,  international participants meet not on the Obertorplatz, but on the Neuer Messplatz. The Event Arena offers an additional highlight: After a vault the spectators can once again look at all the details in slow motion on the LED screen.

The preparations are in full swing and the whole organisation team is looking forward to numerous hands which will drive the athletes from all over the world to new heights.

ProNES and FARO at Control 2018

The Control 2018 in Stuttgart from 24 to the 27 April in Stuttgart experienced a premiere. ProNES and FARO presented the first result of their cooperation: PIQ.3D-gate or Quality Gate. The lively interest of customers and business partners is the best proof of the potential of this future-oriented all-in-one solution.

The PIQ.3D-gate is used for quality inspection of complex assemblies or end products. The core of the new product development is the precise matching of the assemblies and end products with the CAD design data.

The fully automatic inline inspection system PIQ.3D-gate allows non-contact quality assurance. At the same time, the optional trend analysis of the recorded result data provides the necessary data to proactively intervene in tolerance-critical manufacturing processes.

Depending on the transport system for the test specimens, the all-in-one solution can be integrated in two variants at different positions in different production chains: stand-alone variant and fully automatic measuring cell.

Below you find a short video about the PIQ.3D-gate as well as further technical data:

ProNES Runs Automatically…

This was the motto under which ProNES was also represented at this year’s company run on 17 May. Not only the organizers were able to register a higher number of participants, ProNES also started with an increased number of women and men.

This year, both directors did not miss the opportunity to accompany their employees during the company run. Besides the running group there was also a walking group from ProNES – and the groupie team cheered on the runners / goers or took the success photos of the participants.

Once again it was big fun for everybody, and there is a persistent rumour that the first people of the ProNES team have already started training for the company run next year. We are of course eager to see their future performance boost.

Girls’ Day at ProNES in Landau

On Girls’ Day, companies, businesses and universities throughout Germany open their doors to schoolgirls from the 5th grade onwards. The girls get to know apprenticeships and study programmes in IT, crafts, natural sciences and technology, in which women are rarely represented.  Or they meet female role models in management positions in business and politics.

ProNES Automation GmbH, developers of comprehensive system solutions for quality assurance and digitalisation, welcomed Jessica P. to our company headquarters in Marie-Curie-Strasse in Landau on April 26, 2018. Jessica attends the 9th grade of the Wilhelm-Hauenstein-Gymnasium in Durmersheim.

Our team members Ralf Marckert and Martin Haag gave Jessica insights into their daily work: software programming and control cabinet construction.

Together with Ralf Marckert, project developer for hardware and software, Jessica created a small LabVIEW demo programme.

Moreover, she was given the opportunity to watch Ralf Marckert during an important part of his day-to-day work: the adaptation of source codes of existing programmes.

Together with our team member Martin Haag, project developer for mechanics and hardware, Jessica was able to break new ground and support him with the cabling of control cabinets.

“The Girls’ Day at ProNES Automation GmbH was a great opportunity for me to gain an insight into the company’s field of activity. A very interesting day with many new impressions and friendly people, which helped me a lot in my further career choice,” is the conclusion of Jessica.

We would be delighted, if our dedicated employees could further promote Jessica’s interest in a technical profession and wish her every success in her academic and professional career.

Test Heroes – Cooperation between Wolf & Wölfel and ProNES

The cooperative product development combines the strengths of both companies to sustainably develop the product portfolio of both companies. One of Wolf & Wölfel’s areas of expertise is the testing of electric motors. ProNES contributes its expertise in LabVIEW programming. The common foundation of the solution is the many years of experience of both companies in automation and process optimisation in the manufacturing.

The first result of this cooperation is the all-in-one solution PIQ.drive, which serves to seamlessly integrate the control of various quality parameters into the production of electric motors: starting torque, insulation, block inhibition, noise / vibration, synchronisation fluctuation, to name but a few. Detailed information on PIQ.drive can be found under the following link: PIQ.drive

“Mehr Qualität geht nicht” or “Quality at its Best” applies at all levels: quality of the all-in-one solution, quality of the manufactured electric motors, and quality of the trusting cooperation between the companies.

And the conclusion of the day:

Neither Friday the 13th nor the partly impassable paths diminished the positive mood. We can go on like this…

4. April 2017

7th Meeting Point Automation of ProNES Automation GmbH in Landau

“Strategic Alliances to Bundle Experts” was the motto of the 7th MEETING POINT AUTOMATION at the Hotel Soho in Landau. At the invitation of ProNES Automation GmbH, leading suppliers from the automation and manufacturing industry (including Beckhoff Automation GmbH, National Instruments Germany GmbH, Keyence Deutschland GmbH and Phoenix Contact Deutschland GmbH) met with system integrators (including Wolf & Wölfel GmbH, ProNES Automation GmbH) as well as an interested expert audience on the user side (including Eberspächer Controls Landau GmbH & Co. KG , SEW Eurodrive GmbH & Co. KG, WiCo Production GmbH) and representatives of universities and colleges (KIT, Hochschule Karlsruhe) to jointly take a look at current and future developments in the automation and manufacturing industry.

After the welcoming address by Jochen Weber, Managing Director of ProNES, in which he emphasised the importance of the cooperation between the attending participants and ProNES, Peter Nicolaus from National Instruments gave his presentation on the topic of real-time measurement systems in manufacturing. These are becoming more and more important as they make a significant contribution to realising timely quality assurance. In this way, it is possible to intervene in production processes at an early stage in order to increase efficiency and eliminate scrap at an early stage.

As a representative of the system integrators, Domenic Foerderer from ProNES explained the possibilities of the PIQ.measure&inspect system platform in order to effectively translate customer requirements into concrete, practice-oriented automation and manufacturing solutions.

In the third presentation of the day, Mr. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dorschner from Karlsruhe University risked a look into the future. He presented methods of artificial intelligence and their possible contribution to automation. Artificial intelligence is about integrating neuronal structures of the human brain, which offer significant efficiency advantages over current sequential PC processing, into practical solutions. The reactions of the expert audience showed how promising neuronal structures are in combination with algorithms and self-learning systems (keyword: deep learning).

During the concluding panel discussion, Dominik Reißner, 2nd Managing Director of ProNES Automation GmbH, together with the experts on the panel and the expert audience, addressed the question of what role strategic alliances play in the modern business world. There was a unanimous credo: Companies that isolate themselves from the outside and rely solely on their own proprietary solutions will have a hard time in the future. Open source offerings are the order of the day. The trend is clearly moving away from product-centered in-house developments to customer-oriented solutions. The actual achievement of system integrators must consist of finding the solution from the bulging cornucopia of possibilities in cooperation with the customer. In this way, it is possible to precisely supplement solutions that are optimally tailored to individual customer requirements and wishes.

In times of Big Data, there is no lack of solutions, but rather the problem of making the right choice. This is exactly where strategic alliances come into play. Just to name a few examples: Hardware manufacturers cooperate with integrators to ensure optimum system integration. Ideally, research will provide the basis for new products and decision making beyond everyday project requirements on the one hand and contribute to innovative, practice-oriented solutions in cooperation with companies on the other.

10th Meeting of LabVIEW User Group Stuttgart on 09 Feb. 2017

Admittedly, the 10th meeting is only a small anniversary, but it shows that the LabVIEW User Group Stuttgart has established itself since 2012. This can be explained by the good mixture of topics, ranging from LabVIEW basics (e.g. design patterns), information about innovations in the next LabVIEW versions and discussions about the Actor Framework to private projects with a high fun factor. All in all, the contributions of the various participants are the elixir of the group’s life.

The 10th meeting at ProNES in the Business Office Center at Stuttgart Airport was no exception. At first Domenic Foerderer from ProNES Automation GmbH explained possibilities to protect intellectual property via license dongle. The license dongle allows software developers to protect software on feature level against unauthorised copying.

In the second presentation Philipp Nörtersheuser from National Instruments gave an overview of the future project on which software developers and platform designers from National Instruments are working under intense pressure: LabVIEW NextGen. The goal is simply to increase the performance and usability for software developers.
A major innovation are the vector-based front panel elements, which allow flexible screen scaling without fixed resolution depending on the display device.  One focus of ongoing development is a common look and feel for all NI components, without depriving software developers of their familiar environment. This  includes the use of consistent icons throughout the software, which will shift from realistic to easy-to-unterstand graphics. A further innovation is the interaction between recorded measurement data and their graphical representation. Changes to the graphical representation of the measured data are reflected directly in the software. However, these are just a few innovations… it remains exciting.

A few more years will pass before NextGen is ready for the market. After that, the further optimised “classic” LabVIEW variant and LabVIEW NexGen will be offered and supported in parallel in a transition phase. The new Software Technology Preview (http://www.ni.com/de-de/support/software-technology-preview.html) gives software developers the opportunity to contribute suggestions and ideas to optimise the software.

In the third presentation Philipp Nörtersheuser presented his project “Couch Advisor”, which is not about hardware control. The problem: You sit on the couch in the evening and no is shown on TV that corresponds to your mood. Thus, you want your favourite online movie, but how do you find it quickly. Just let it be said that the project is well on a good way to make the evening on the couch comfortable. This project can be assigned to the LVUG section “Show Your Own Project!”, in which every participant is invited to present creative projects away from the daily routine.

The concluding get together offered the opportunity to talk about current developments in the individual companies in a relaxed atmosphere and to plan the next meeting.

Conclusion: The LabVIEW User Group is an excellent forum for the participants to expand their general know-how as well as to find out about new developments and to get help with pending individual problems.

Patent for Measuring the Thickness of Wide Foils – March 2013

ProNES Automation GmbH has been granted a patent to measure the thickness of wide foils. ProNES sells the associated solution under the name PIQ.trasys.

The patented solution is a method for measuring the material thickness of wide foils in which a foil is conveyed between two traverses. The material thickness of the foil is calculated using at least two distance sensors arranged opposite to each other on one of the traverses. The distance between the sensors and the foil surface is determined and sent to a data processing device which calculates the foil thickness on the basis of the measured values. The traverses are rigid granite rails. On each of these rails a slide carrying a distance sensor is moved with positional precision.

Further technical details about PIQ.trasys can be found on the ProNES website.

The main advantage of the solution is the reduced number of sensors without making any concessions to the precision of the measurement. The overall arrangement of the measuring device, including triangulation sensors, rigid granite guides and integrated calibration, enables a measurement accuracy of one micrometer. Moreover, temperature fluctuations in the measuring environment are taken into account.

The granting of this patent to Jochen Weber, managing director of ProNES Automation GmbH, is further proof of the inventive spirit that prevails at ProNES. However, this inventive talent is not an end in itself  at ProNES. The underlying expertise and years of experience provide a solid foundation for developing a well-coordinated combination of standard modules and customised, individual solutions. Thus, ProNES customers benefit on the one hand from the cost efficiency of standard modules and on the other hand from individual problem solutions that address their specific manufacturing requirements.

Excellent Promotion of Young Talents at ProNES – 2015

Two renewed certificates prove ProNES Automation GmbH’s sustained commitment to promoting young talent:
Ausbildungsbetrieb 2015 – IHK für die Pfalz ((Training Company 2015 – IHK for the Palatinate)
Dualer Partner – DHBW – (Dual Partner)

The ProNES team has made a name for themselves for manufacturing expertise. The employees in our company like to share their knowledge with apprentices and students to help young people find their way into their professional future. The positive side effect for ProNES is: This commitment strengthens our own innovative strength.

The renewed certificates show that ProNES is on the right track in the area of training.
“By training in your company, you make a significant contribution to securing the future of our country, but at the same time this is a suitable instrument for ensuring a reservoir of young skilled labour for your company. In particular, you are one of those companies that take measures with your training to counter the demographic change,” says Michael Böffel, Head of the Training Division of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the Palatinate.

The Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University awards the Dual Partner certificate to companies in the technical field, among others, that prove to be suitable in terms of their technical expertise and their personnel. Within the framework of a three-year training contract, the students complete the practical part of their training in the respective company.

“For us, these certificates are on the one hand a confirmation of our successful commitment in the field of training, but at the same time also an incentive to continue on the path we have taken with vigour”, comments Jochen Weber, Managing Director of ProNES Automation GmbH.

Seal of Quality “Innovativ durch Forschung” awarded to ProNES Automation GmbH – 2014/2015

The Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wirtschaft e. V. (Donors’ Association for the promotion of humanities and sciences in Germany) has awarded ProNES Automation GmbH, developer of system platforms for use in the field of industrial automation, the seal “Innovativ durch Forschung” (Innovative through Research). As one of the largest private sponsors of science in Germany, the Stifterverband honours research-based companies for the special responsibility they assume for society.

“Research and development are the best investment in the future”, explains Jochen Weber, Managing Director of ProNES. This is the only way to make innovations possible. According to Weber, small and medium-sized companies have always been the backbone of the German economy. “At ProNES Automation GmbH, we focus our activities on securing and optimising product and process quality”, says Weber. As a system integrator in the industrial environment, ProNES supports customers in optimising quality assurance in production. This reduces waste and the individual steps are mapped transparently.

The goal of the Stifterverband is to sustainably improve the German education and research landscape. The joint initiative of the German industry brings together around 3,000 companies, business associations, foundations and private persons under one roof.  On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Stifterverband conducts an annual R&D survey. The survey examines, among other things, how much the German industry invests in research and development.
